For many Filipino nurses, this seems to be one of the top most coveted countries of destination where they can work as a registered nurse. 

However, the process can be complex to many. To some, they don’t know how to even get started.

To give you some light, here are the steps that one must undergo to achieve that #American Dream goal.

Step 1: NCLEX

NCLEX is your golden ticket to be allowed to practice as a nurse in the USA. Passing the NCLEX enables you to get your US RN license. Technically speaking, the RN license in the United States of America. You only need to pass 1 NCLEX, and your license can be endorsed to any other US State in the future. Your US license is valid for life unless revoked. Your license is just renewable. Some can be three years, and some can be two years.

The renewal depends on the rule of the Board of Nursing. Now regardless of the state, it will not matter. Why? Because the truth is, your employer will determine the state that you will be deployed in depending on the hospital client they will have. For example, you passed the NCLEX through the New York Board of Nursing, but your employer’s hospital client is in Texas. Therefore, your license must be endorsed by the Texas Board of Nursing.

Step 2: Search a Recruitment Agency

After passing the NCLEX, the next thing that you can do is to search for a recruitment agency that you may want to apply with. It’s either a local hiring recruitment agency based in the Philippines or a direct hiring recruitment agency based in the USA. Apply to a reputable recruitment agency and be vigilant for your safety. Moreover, don’t forget to do your research. For your information, the local hiring agencies here in the Philippines will not ask you for any placement fee if it’s for your EB3 visa/immigrant visa for the USA. Even those will do a reimbursement for the expenses you spent for your NCLEX.

If you choose a direct hiring agency, please validate the company. Check for the feedback of those who had experienced them. Please be aware that if it’s a direct hiring agency, you must be paying for Visa Fee, Attorney’s fee, etc. Check and read the contract on what expenses you will need to pay before signing the contract. Then, decide which one you are going to sign up with.

Do not dread your IELTS because you only need 6.5 on your total band score for your Academic Module. Step 4: VisaScreen Certification

The VisaScreen Certificate is also a requirement during your USA Embassy interview. But, as we say through our Facebook Page at IPASS Processing, your VisaScreen certificate is not state-specific, and it’s valid for five years. You can also get a VisaScreen certificate if you pass the CGFNS Qualifying Exam. But should you use the CGFNS Certificate, you still need an active IELTS.
