COVID-19: The Outbreak Of The New Pandemic

Following the outbreak of COVID-19 or better known as the Corona Virus on January 7, 2020, reaching the attention of the World Health Organization. Since its widespread and fast infection rates of over 4,000 individuals losing their lives. Later, reporting the source of the virus in Wuhan, China, believed to have come from one of their local delicacies.

With over 119,000 confirmed cases worldwide as of March 11, 2020, 2:00 GMT, travel restrictions were more present than ever. Tight precautions were prepared to ensure the safety of the people. A lot of clients of IPASS Processing were affected, especially those who had exam schedules. All of these were caused by the outbreak of the new pandemic, called now as COVID-19.

According to WHO, symptoms of the disease may include fever, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty in breathing, and in more severe cases, it can lead to pneumonia, multiple organ failure, and death. With an incubation period ranging from one to 14 days, some patients may appear asymptomatic. This led to major travel bans worldwide to avoid spreading the virus.

Airports to take not of

As stated in nafsa.org, Joint U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Federal Register announced that DHS directed all operators of aircraft to ensure that all flights carrying persons who had recently traveled from, or were otherwise present within, the People’s Republic of China or the Islamic Republic of Iran only land at one of the following airports:

  • John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), New York
  • Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), Illinois
  • San Francisco International Airport (SFO), California
  • Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), Washington
  • Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL), Hawaii
  • Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), California
  • Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), Georgia
  • Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), Virginia
  • Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), New Jersey
  • Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), Texas
  • Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW), Michigan

These may still be subject to change. Furthermore, these airports implement advanced health care services and possesses equipment that can determine infected person or otherwise.
