A famous military leader during the French revolution named Napoleon Bonaparte once said that “victory belongs to the most persevering”. Just like during wars, our everyday lives are like a battlefield. We face a lot of adversities that may or may not be easy and often comes with a price. 

One such battlefield that a lot of Filipino nurses face is whether to stay working here in the Philippines or explore career opportunities abroad, many end up choosing the latter. As nurses choose to setup practicing their beloved profession in other countries, they are yet again faced with challenges such as ensuring a legit employer abroad, the possibility of being homesick, trying to learn the culture of the country they will go to and of course ensuring they have a license to practice abroad. It is not an easy journey but is definitely doable.

Here are some tips on how you can achieve your success story:

1. Start With Simple Idea

   The achievements that we have are once a product of our imagination, believe it or not. Definitely we have to begin with something and this is our thoughts. We start to question ourselves if working in the Philippines is something that we want to continue doing or we yearn for more?

2. Have A Clear Picture Of What Your Future Is

   In close relation to the first tip, we must have a vision of where we want to be years from now. We must have a goal in mind and these goals should be specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time-bound. Most people fail to realize that having a plan in mind is very essential and they simply go with the flow. Failing to plan means planning to fail. When you have a clear image in your mind you will definitely strive for it and when you envision the future there is a definite chance that it will turn into a reality.

3. Live Breath, Taste Your Dream

   What do I mean by this? When you have a dream in mind, you will work every day and do everything in your power to make it a reality. Your preparation is yearned towards achieving that dream and act every day as if that is already a reality. No one will take that away from you because you are so determined.

4. Celebrate Small Victories

   We have many forms of preparation for achieving our dreams, one concrete example of this is the exam review that we do. Usually, we allocate many months of preparation for an exam that we will be taking. Throughout the study phase, we will definitely encounter a lot of struggle because sometimes our scores during the practice exam are not good. However we shouldn’t be too hard on ourselves, just the fact that we are already learning through our mistakes is a blessing. It’s better to fail during your preparation, at least you have time to correct those mistakes. This is something to be celebrated.

5. Spiritual Preparation

   Of course in every battle that we face divine intervention is a must. We know that preparation doesn’t only include the physical aspect, at some point we have to ask for spiritual guidance too. Most importantly when we are so choked up with all the physical preparation that we feel its too much. I think that is the best time that we can release all of our worries, anxieties, and fears. God can definitely help you towards the path to success.
