KAPS Australia

One of the most common misconceptions of the pharmacist profession is that they are only professionals responsible for dispensing medicine. In truth, their job is not limited to being behind a pharmacy store counter. But instead, like any other healthcare professional, they also play a significant role in providing care to the general public.

Pharmacists are integral to the healthcare system as their function and specialty reach beyond your typical drugstore. In addition, there is diversity in the job regarding specializations and settings with which they can get assigned.

KAPS Application Process

Before one can work as a pharmacist in Australia, overseas qualified pharmacists must pass the Knowledge Assessment of Pharmaceutical Sciences (KAPS) exam. The exam tests one’s knowledge and understanding of pharmaceutical sciences. However, suppose the pharmacist has completed a pharmacy qualification in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States. In that case, they are exempted from taking the KAPS exam.

Pre-Qualification Assessment

Our team will assess the candidates’ credentials, documents, and qualifications to determine if they meet the Australian Pharmacy Council (APC) criteria. These documents include identity documents such as a valid passport, educational background documents such as a college diploma and transcript of records (TOR), and many more.

Application to Pharmacy Council

If the candidate is qualified, we’ll submit the application to the Australian Pharmacy Council (APC), which will check the applicant’s eligibility to sit the KAPS exam. At this point, pharmacists must wait for the APC’s assessment and approval, which typically takes eight (8) weeks. Once the APC declares an application eligible, they send out an email.

KAPS Registration & Exam

After receiving the email confirmation, applicants can register for the KAPS exam via the Candidate Portal. Then, they must take the exam at the accredited testing center. Afterwards, the applicant will receive their Skill Assessment Letter in five (5) to ten (10) days. Furthermore, the KAPS exam has a three (3) year validity period starting from the date of issuance.
