Score Transfer
The NCLEX score transfer process allows candidates who have passed the NCLEX to transfer their scores to another jurisdiction via the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, or NCSBN.
The candidate can undergo a score transfer if their initial state is inactive, and they need to have an active license. It could be due to the Board of Nursing requiring the candidate to undergo a score transfer instead of license endorsement. Moreover, the application for score transfer is by exam result, not the score, and not necessary by the initial license. Furthermore, the score transfer process, fees, and processing time may vary depending on the applicant's preferred state.

How to Apply for the Score Transfer?

The candidate must submit a formal request letter to only the original Board of Nursing, or BON, requesting that the candidate's scores be transferred to their desired state's BON. Then, the candidate must mail the formal request to the actual state Board of Nursing that made the candidate eligible.
Also, an applicant must obtain a Candidate Report from their initial state as it is one of the prerequisites for Score Transfer.

Submission of Prerequisites

The candidate's original board of nursing must submit a formal request for transfer to NCSBN, which is addressed and sent to the Board of Nursing to which the candidate desires to transfer. Aside from the formal request, the candidate must submit additional documents required for score transfer.
Each state has its own set of required documents for score transfer. Moreover, these documents will be verified by the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools, or CGFNS.

Score Transfer Approval

The processing time frame for the score transfer depends upon which state you will transfer. Once the transfer is approved, the candidate's result is transferred to the candidate's desired board. In addition, IPASS Agent will provide further instructions to the eligible candidate before, during, and after the score transfer application.
Once Score Transfer is completed, the applicant will receive a license from the Board of Nursing.
