It was a normal morning at the 12th day of January 2020 in Batangas, Philippines. It was where the Taal Volcano lied, one of the country’s beautiful tourist spot.

Everyone continued with their usual routine for a Sunday as some people went to the church to praise and worship. Others had their stroll around parks and different spots, and some stayed at home with their families watching variety shows from their television.

Everything was the same as until the skies went dark. Colors of hot ash and gas from the volcano’s sudden eruption brought shock to the people. Gray ashes filled the atmosphere, blasting for around nine miles up, which in turn spread throughout the place. Volcanic lightning flashing through the dark scenery and earthquakes shook the residents.

People living close to the volcano were to evacuate into gyms and cock derby arenas for shelter. While the government and private sectors released relief goods to the affected residents. Medicines were provided like eyedroppers and masks to avoid inhaling harmful chemicals from the explosion. Some were also kind enough to extend help from their own money.

Following the incident, the next following days were much worse. Ashfall reached farther up to different towns and even some parts of Metro Manila. It seemed as though there was snow despite the country being near the equator, covering ashes in its radius. Ultimately, suspending local school’s classes and works. Elevating the alert level from 3 to 4 forcing people around the 14-kilometer permanent danger zone to evacuate immediately. This was to prevent more damages to the community.

Due to the spewed plumes of ash, suspending all flights arriving and departing in Manila’s international airport. Airport operation will resume again it’s safe to travel.
